Fees - Master of Forest Ecosystem Science

Commonwealth Government supported (CSP), Australian Fee and International Places will be available for students undertaking the Master of Forest Ecosystem Science. Information on fee assistance and scholarships is available on the scholarships page.

Commonwealth Supported Places

A Commonwealth supported place (CSP) is an enrolment at the University which is subsidised by the Commonwealth government. Fees for students offered a CSP in the MFES in 2008 are $725/subject ($5800/annum full-time load) for subjects based at the Creswick campus and $907/subject ($7256/annum full-time load)for subjects based at the Parkville or Burnley Campuses. The total contribution required by students will depend on the subjects taken and the location at which those subjects are taught.

Students who accept a Commonwealth supported place do not have to pay their contribution fees immediately.  Students may repay their loan through the tax system once their income is above the minimum threshold for compulsory repayment ($38,148 in 2007). This loan is known as HECS-HELP. Discounts may be available for upfront payments.

Australian Fee Places

Fees in 2008 for students offered an Australian Fee Place in the MFES are $2193/subject ($17544/annum full-time load).

Students with an Australian Fee Place may be eligible for FEE-HELP, a loan provided by the Commonwealth Government to pay their tuition fees. FEE-HELP is an interest-free loans facility for full fee-paying postgraduate students undertaking non-research courses. It is similar to the deferred payment arrangements available under HECS.Further information is available from the Government website: www.goingtouni.gov.au.

International Places

Typical tuition fees for international students entering the MFES in 2008 will be $A26,450 per annum (1EFTSL).
